Course overview
Semi-permanent makeup (SPMU), also known as micropigmentation, is a form of cosmetic tattooing used to enhance features such as eyebrows, lips, and eyeliner.
Details of the training are:
Eyebrows
- Powder/Ombre Brows: This method creates a soft, powdered look that resembles eyebrow powder or pencil giving a more defined, “makeup” look.
Lash Line Enhancement
- Lash Line Enhancement: Adds pigment in between your lashes to make them appear fuller and darker. It’s a subtle way to enhance the eyes without a full eyeliner look.
Lips
- Lip Blush: Adds a tint of colour to the lips and liner to the lip line, enhancing their natural shape and colour. Creating a subtle, natural-looking lip tint.
Our SPMU Training Objective
It is our aim to provide you with the ability and confidence to be able to practice SPMU professionally after completing this course. Our trainer is a semi-permanent artist first and trainer second. They will share all their experience and knowledge you will need to excel in this industry and create a superb career for yourself.
What You Will Learn
Health and safety is a huge part of any semi-permanent makeup treatment and we make sure you’re fully aware of how to maintain a perfectly hygienic and safe salon environment. In addition to all the laws and regulations we will cover waste disposal, council treatment license and general hygiene and insurance. Numbing is a largely talked about subject and is covered in detail.
Measuring up, brow mapping and drawing on is the most important element of SPMU and we spend a large amount of time making sure you’re fully comfortable with the latest methods. You will practice on live models exactly how to map out and measure brows correctly and accurately. You will learn how to draw them on and how to define the brows to suit the persons face correctly and precisely. Lips and liner will also be covered from a drawing on perspective, and you will be taught exactly how to carry out this important part of the process.
We will take you through colour theory, needles & aftercare to ensure you are fully confident to carry out all aspects of semi-permanent make-up.
We will go through all options of where to purchase products and equipment including an SPMU machine. Should you wish to purchase a kit then this can be purchased prior or on the day for an additional £750.
This 6-day semi-permanent make-up course will cover the fundamentals to enable you to work with the SPMU machine in a safe and sterile way. Our industry leading trainer will take you through the theory behind the technique and give advice on products currently available in the industry. You will be given a full training manual which will be yours to keep. The trainer will demonstrate the treatment technique step by step whilst answering your queries. You will spend days 3-5 practicing whilst being supported by our VTCT Certified tutor. You will be shown how to set up your client correctly, how to treat a range of areas as well as maintain client comfort.
- Day 3 – Brows- Powder/ Ombre Brows
- Day 4 – Lash Line Enhancement
- Day 5 – Lip Blush
This course will give you all the skills and knowledge to be a professional SPMU artist.
Students will need a model to carry out the full treatment on a model during their student practical on days 3-5. There maybe a charge for this to cover the cost of products. If you are unable to provide your own model then we will need to know in advance of the training date to make alternative arrangements.
